Q: What is a horse status update? What do I have to do?

A: If a horse in your stable hasn't had any activity (e.g. nomination to race) recorded with Racing Australia/Principal Racing Authority in 6 consecutive months, the horse's status/location must be updated.

Within 7 days of the 6-month mark, you must lodge a Horse Status Update online here and make any outstanding notifications/lodgments.

Q: How will I know if I need to provide a status update for a horse in my stable?

A: Racing Australia will send reminders to you at the following times:

  • email 7 days before 6-month mark;
  • email on day of 6-month mark;
  • text message 4 days after 6-month mark.

Q: What happens if I don't provide a status update on time?

A: You may be restricted from transacting with Racing Australia/Principal Racing Authority in relation to any horse you train, own or breed with (e.g. unable to submit nominations, receive prizemoney).
